This policy explains what information the Blindle mobile game handles, why, and the choices you have. Blindle is published by MASTEN AB (“we”, “us”). We keep data collection to a minimum: Blindle has no accounts and no sign-in, and we never ask for your name, email, or other directly identifying details.
Who we are
MASTEN AB is the data controller for the Blindle app. You can reach us at any time using the contact details at the end of this policy.
Information we handle
Blindle does not require an account and does not collect information that identifies you personally. The data involved falls into three groups:
- On-device data. Your game progress, per-language statistics, and settings are stored only on your device (using local app storage). This information stays on your device and is not sent to us. Deleting the app removes it.
- Anonymous game results. When you finish a daily puzzle, the app sends an anonymous record so it can show how all players did that day (for example “62% solved today, average 4.3 guesses”). This record contains only: the puzzle date, the language, whether the word was solved, the number of guesses, and a random device identifier generated by the app. It contains no name, email, account, or location. The random identifier lets us count each device once per day and is not linked to your identity. This data is stored on our behalf by Supabase, a hosting provider.
- Advertising data. Blindle shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may process device information such as a mobile advertising identifier, general (coarse) location derived from your IP address, and ad-interaction data. Depending on your consent choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
How we use this information
- To run the daily game and show the “all players today” comparison.
- To display advertising, which funds the app.
- To keep the app working reliably and understand aggregate, anonymous play patterns.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves. We do not use the anonymous game results to identify or track individuals.
Advertising, consent, and your choices
Ads are provided by Google AdMob. How ads are personalized depends on the choices you make:
- In the EU/EEA and UK, the app shows a consent request (Google’s consent management platform) the first time it runs. You can choose whether to allow personalized ads. If you decline, ads are still shown but are non-personalized.
- On iOS, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt asks whether the app may use your advertising identifier for tracking. You can decline, and the app will continue to work.
- You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (for example, “Reset advertising identifier” or the tracking controls on iOS and Android).
Google’s handling of advertising data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy. Learn more and manage ad settings at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/privacy.
Legal bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for personalized advertising and any device-identifier access that requires it, and on our legitimate interest in running and maintaining the game for the anonymous, aggregated results that power the daily comparison.
Data sharing
We share data only with the service providers needed to run Blindle:
- Google AdMob — advertising (see links above).
- Supabase — secure hosting of the anonymous daily results described above.
We may disclose information if required by law. Because these providers may operate servers in other countries, some data may be processed outside your country, with appropriate safeguards in place.
Data retention
On-device data remains until you delete the app or clear its data. Anonymous daily results are kept to provide historical and aggregate statistics and contain no information that identifies you.
Children
Blindle is a general-audience word game and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will address it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because Blindle has no account and the game results are anonymous, we usually cannot link stored data to a specific person. You can still contact us with any request or question, and you can control advertising through the consent and device settings described above.
Security
We use reputable providers and reasonable technical measures to protect the limited data we handle. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep the small amount of data involved safe.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves or as legal requirements change. We will revise the “last updated” date above, and significant changes will be reflected here.
